Caring for a Crying Baby

Caring for a new baby can be exciting, but can also be stressful. Many times the cause of stress is a crying baby and not knowing what they need. In this workshop, learn to identify important ways to prevent stress and cope with a crying baby. This free program at Fondulac District Library on February 11 at 6:00 p.m. is presented by Sara Hammond, R.N., Child Care Nurse Consultant for Child Care Connection/Tazewell County Health Department. East Peoria Mayor Dave Mingus will be available to discuss issues with residents on Wednesdays during Mornings with the Mayor. Mornings with the Mayor will provide residents the opportunity to talk informally with Mingus from 7 until 8 a.m. Wednesdays. Mornings with the Mayor will occur in March at Eysal’s Coffee Roasters, 400 E. Washington St., on Feb. 10, Feb. 17 and Feb. 24.

From Stress to Success

Help move your children from stress to success on standardized state tests by helping them learn smart test-taking strategies. On February 25 at 7:00 p.m. Karla Janicke from Sylvan Learning Center will present a free program at Fondulac District Library on how to help your child prepare for ISAT testing. Story hours sessions at Fondulac Library will begin on Monday, February 1. All story hour sessions are available on a drop-in basis. The library does request, however, that the caregiver has a valid library card. Please call the library at 699-3917 to find out which story hour is right for your child.

AARP Tax Assistance

The AARP will provide free tax preparation at Fondulac Library, every Wednesday and Friday, February 3 – April 14, from 9:00-12:00. Tax preparation is done by appointment only. Please note the AARP volunteers are not able to help with questions about rental property, farms and small businesses. Call 699-3917 for more information or to make an appointment.

The Central Illinois Agency on Aging will be at Fondulac Library on Wednesday mornings from 9:30-12:00, February 3 – April 14 to help prepare Circuit Breaker forms. No registration is required for this service. For more information, call the library at 699-3917.
